Finally shooting

Is anybody reading this site? I have no idea. Well I will write some for my self :). But the bow is here, and I have been shooting like 3 times, after we arrived here. Like 120 arrows at time, not too much, but enough to keep the shooting good. I have 25m competition on 6.1 in Jyväskylä, so I have been practicing that distance. But I have one problem, the knocking point hits my nose. Its cause the upper knocking point is metal ring. It hits my nose. Have to change to string :). Or use some tape in the nose...
On Sunday we shot practice competition, with timing. That was promising, 551. The goal in Jyväskylä is 560, that would be a new finnish record in 25m (Barebow). Its not so far, I have a chance ;), just have to keep all arrows in yellow, not more...

Bow in the way, we are in Finland

No shooting this weekend, cause my bow is still in between Brussels - Helsinki - Tampere - Virrat.
Also my all clothers are in the same bag, nice. Usually this happens, when you change flight somepoint. It's not the first time. Also they have changed the way they deliver the "lost" luggages after. No more taxi, my bag is coming with the bus, and the Virrat bus station is open next on monday..

152 arrows outside ;)

It was nice day yesterday, so I disided to go outside to shoot. Sun was shining a little, and it was like +5, no wind. I shooted 50m to 122cm target, all of my arrows at time (14). The bow was little bit of tuned, but usually atleast 10 of 14 hitted the yellow. I was very happy to that, cause I haven't shot to the target in week. Today again I'm gonna pull the empty bow, cause it seems that it has helped to keep the draw strength. It was so easy to shoot the 14 arrows, except the few last serials, they were really hard, but good practice :).

Shooting

No time to shoot, cause Emil is sick again :(. So I have only went to the volleyball practicing during the evenings.. I need to get some stomach and back muscles to support my spine. I have pulled empty bow to keep the draw strengh up.

186

Today, much easier to pull 186 arrows. Next goal that I have is to have very nice score in Jyväskylä (Finland) 6.1. There is a 25m competition. The finnish record is 559, so the goal is to get 560.. That is a hard to get, but it's still makable. Just need to stay in yellow, like in field ;). The target is 60cm, so its similar than in field 25m/60cm.

Season 2009

Next year goal, to get a medal either from World Games or from European Championships.

Season 2009 started today. After a month brake 153 arrows. Last arrows was really hard to shoot. The strenght of shooting has gone away little, so no strenght to shoot 7 arrows a time. But the bow was okey, and the shots were quite good ;). It comes quickly back..

I have started to play volleyball, so that I get some fysic also to the body. And it's fun, after two years brake...

Training Target

Karhukisa Pori 6.7

It was 1.45h drive to Pori from Virrat.. Weather in Pori was better than normal, during the competitions there :). Sun was shining and little wind. My goal was shoot close to the finnish record, what is 638/50m(Barebow). The warming period was not fine, arrows flyed everywhere.. I noticed that the arrows does not fly good in the wind.. usually the group was like from left 8 to right eight, and the the score was like around 50(6arrows). So too many eights and sevens, and the final score was 625, I'm happy to that, it was my first 70m competition, and it was little windy.
In the finals(semifinals), 12arrows 6+6, Olavi Laurila put me in the hard place. He was leading with 4 point after 6 arrows.. 53-49, but in the second half he did not shoot that good, and I won points 102-97 :). Then in the final, the weather was calm and the arrows flew very good. I made the a new finnish record 109 (56+53). Results here.

50m

Next sunday is 50m (122cm/10face) competition in Pori. So today I practised the distance to 80cm field target. The grouping was much better in the beginning, but spreaded to the and... Just got little tired in the end, thats why not so good finish...

Brake

I have had a nice brake from shooting. It has been a mid summer selepration in Finland. Yesterday I was shootin 72 arrow outside. Just some warmup to 80cm target. First from 30m and then if from 9 arrows were 6 inside the yellow, tooked 2,5m longer... I had to stop when I got all arrows in the yellow from 40m ;)))). I think that I have shooted before too many arrows and too offen. Looks like the brakes is good for me :))

Fita (Barebow) Tampere 14.6

It was nice weather all day and there was little wind. I shooted all day to the left. Don't know why, maybe cause I didn't stand middle of the target. Or the bow was not really good tuned, who knows :). In 70m I had very good aiming point, cause the windflags was middle of the target, so I expected over 300 score. But all the arrows were in the left 7-9, and tryed to get them middle, not today :), score 280. Then straight to 60m. It didn't start well. Mark was little off and very poor start.. To the end I got some better scores, but the score stayd to 280.. 50m was little better, but still the arrows stayed left, I tryed everything, but then the group moved to right same place... 285 there. 30m was the best, 325. I don't mean the score, but shooting was also better, maybe cause there was three distancies to practice shooting, and the tuffiest National record was also in 30m. Had to focus more to get that also... I was quite happy to broke all 5 Barebow Fita record. Fita score was 1171 :)

Merksplas Sunday

Only one day competition for me. Time to practice only one time at the week, and I could see that in the results. Also changed the arrow rest, the marks was something else that before. I'm happy t0 333, what I shot. Arrows were also going around the yellow, don't know why..
But leaving to Finland on Wednesday, there I have more time to tune the bow and prctice :))

5 Nations, Sunday

Again too late to the competition place, and no warmup shooting.... But, the good news was that they changed the groups so, that I was in the group where was only one recurve shooter and one barebow shooter... And I started with the 5m bunny :)). So much better feeling in the start, and much better score also... First six targets 90, and the second 89, they were all unknown targets, beside the first 5m.. Also the bow worked better in the second day, than in the first?!? Second part was the tuffies course the I have ever shot... But very good practice, now I know which marks to shoot tuff up- and down hills :). So, next six targets 82. And in the end I was little tired (have to workout). Last six were not so good 77... But veeeery happy to the second day score, in that course. Have to tune my bow, cause in 20-25 meter the arrows are going in four left, some reason...

5 Nations, Saturday

I arriwed late to the competition place, and did not had chance to warm up.. They stopped the warmup shooting 9.30. I was in group where was 2 compound and 1 recurve shooter, so we had three shooting groups. Also we were the 12 bis group, so there was LOTS of waiting.. The start was like one target and then 20min waiting, one target and 20min waiting... after 5-6targets I got better feeling to the shooting, and were warm enough... So first 6 targets 77 and the next 87... The second half was also lots of waiting and when the long distancies came, I was really angry, and just wanted to go to hotel... so no good shooting there also... 77 and to the end 71 points only :(((

237 arrows

It was little difficult to find motivation to todays shooting... In 50m there was 122cm target, so I started to shoot that. After while I shooted 2*36 arrows "competition", results 329 and 330. Then just shooting the field targets. I invented a "game" for me, maybe someone is allready using it, but anyway..... I had 8 arrows... I started to shoot the shortist distance to 80cm, 30m. If I got the first arrow to the yellow I moved 5m back, if not, had to shoot again, untill got yellow. Then 35m if yellow, 5m more...so on... Also I did it with a 60cm target (starting from 15m) and 40cm target (starting from 10m). That was nice and I was motivated to shoot also :))

Shooting again 60m and 70m

First I started with the 60m. First some warming arrows and the 6*6arrow.. Better score that last time I shot, now 316. After that I moved to 70m. First serie amazing 55points :). Two X, 10, 9, 8 and 8. After that was little difficult to shoot so in the next one 44point ;). But all together 295points.
I was happy to that. I have hope to brake the 300 point in 70m, that would be nice goal in the summer, in some Fita round... It is much easier to shoot 70m, that 50m. I noticed that today. It's in 50m like you have to get all arrows inside the yellow, but in 70m, the thinking is like, somewhere there is good enough... :)... Have to get that feeling in the 50m also...

today

Shooting in Rumst 60m and 70m.. It's fun to shoot longer distancies, I like them. There I can accept that all the arrows are not in yellow. And also practicing for the Barebow Fita, what is in Finland 70m and 60m to 122cm target and 50m and 30m to 80cm target. I was just shooting some time and after that shooted 70m 6*6arrows = 278 and 60m 6*6arrows = 302.

Second day

Sundays field was tuffiest field that I have ever shot. All day it was up and down shooting. "best" target was 20m/40cm up 15m and forward like 8m. So the angle had to be like 50-60 up. Went whit 15m mark, and it was okey.. 14 points to that, very happy. Also very happy that day score 335. There was no low scores, but no high scores. All was like 12-16points, with one 10 points...
Now I stay with these arrows and this bow, that I have now. All together 667 points in Vertus, that is good.
Three weeks and then Trier, the field is as tuff as in Vertus, trying to get little better score that Vertus :).

First day in Vertus

The start was little sticky, first 6-7 targets was really difficult, not for the distancies, but I was not sure where the arrows goes and so. First 3-4 targets the arrows were in left, so I turned the plunger so that the arrows stayed in the middle. After that it was much easier too shoot, when I noticed that the bow and the arrows were working well. So, after half way of the day, I shot next 6 target very good and the score was 90 point to that. All day score was 332 with 20 X(6). I was really happy to that score, and it was much easier to go to the next day :))).

Hmmm...

So... I changer the Nanos to ACE, and they are working better for me. Today in the woods, getting my new measurings. Got some distancies, but not all. And in the wekend is the 5 Nations in France. There is lots of down- and uphills, so again, lets see.. Maybe half way have to take bottle of Champagne, cause we are in the Champagne are ;).

Second day

No need to shoot today, I vomit two times this night and the stomach is all mixed up, tooked all my strenght. I stayed home... And I have desided to use the ACE arrows... The Nanos goes to heavy, and I loose some important meters... Now back to bed... and I hope soon better...

Belgium Open 1st day

Too many moving peaces.. I have changed in a short period, arrows, riser, limbs and string. So I think mix of those has got my shooting go very bad. Or maybe I have to give them a little time to get in places. But 298 it's much for me..(meaning low). Or I take the tomorrow for a lesson of measuring. Lets see what I'm gonna do.. No idea now.... First choice is to change the Nanos back in ACE, cause I think that the Nanos are not flying good, they have too light point (80g). That is the easiest cange to have... will see...

New weight

Big thanks to my friend Dirk, I have now more balanced bow now. He made me a frontweight, in the picture. Now it's more balanced in side ways. So, small errors dosen't show, so big in the targer. After small error, the arrows was still in the yellow. Otherwise also the bow is now much steadyer. I have shooted every day this week, and also last sunday. It is about 750 arrows in five days + the measuring draws. Have to take a brake tomorrow, but it's so fun to shoot, don't want to... This week I have only used the Nano XR arrows. And I'm going to shoot the weekend competition also with them. Lets see after that, am I going to use them all summer...

...the marks and measuring in the woods. And all looked good. The targets were shrinked, so that the 40cm target was like 37cm and 60cm was like 55 and 80cm target 73. But the targets has been there all winter, no wonder... That's why I had my own targets with me, that I could practice on the real size targets.. Now I just gonna go ones more to shoot the distancies before the weekends Belgium Open. Waiting for a very good score, lets see what happends this time ;)...

160 arrows

Had to take the measuring again today, cause yesterday I had to tune the bow, and had to turn the plunger so, that the measuring point went down... Now today all distancies in the middle... Need to practice the longer distancies, like 40m. I was shooting that distance and got some threes down and up... no grouping enough... Maybe I try to shoot 60m, and get the same feeling in every arrow. Tooked long time to find the measuring point again, but let's hope, that they are now right... We will see it on the weekend... The is the Belgium Open. And I have a chance to become Belgium champion, cause I have a lisence in Belgium Club, KJSS. I'm in the competition now, with the Finnish club, Virtain Jousiampujat.

Shooting in warm weather

Today it was +19 and the sun was shining, so in some point of shooting, I almost had sweat in my forehead. I was in t-shirt, but the shorts would had been better to this weather. I shot about 80 arrows, but at the same time I pulled the bow about the same amount without arrow. Trying to get new measuring points and in the same time the new marks. After two hours I had my maesuring for the 40cm and the 60cm targets. Tomorrow have to try without the measuring tape, and see how they are working...

Testing the Nanos more

After tuning the plunger on monday, today the long distancies worked fine also. I was shooting with 6 nanos, and the arrows stayed on the moddle on distancies 30-50m. So, on friday I take my measuring tape with me, and I start to find my distancies in my tab. Also worked today with the new measuring methode.. lets see how that will work on field.. Lost one knock, but the shaft is okey, as you can see ;).

Tuning plunger for Nanos

Today I was just tuning the other plunger to Nanos, inside. I changed the plunger and started shooting distancies 5 - 25m. Arrows was little to the left, so I made the walking test, and tuned the plunger. After couple time of tuning and testing, distancies 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25m was in the middle. Maybe on wednesday I go outside to take my new distance marks. 5m and 10m was not changed, but longer than that has been changed. Good feeling after this test day...

Testing Nanos

Today testing Nanos. Just quick test around 40-60m. 60m cause my friend Dirk and his son Jonas was also shooting with me, whit the recurve. With the new lims 33#, I got out of the bow almost 44#, with my draw. The marks has changed about 5m. I can shoot the 60m just under the knock. But the arrows.... The Nanos was flying very nice, and was in same group with the ACE that I have. I did not tune anything in the bow, so the ACE arrows made a better group than Nanos. So during the next week have just test them more, lets see if they are any better after that.

Second day 5 Nations

All the unmarked target went to guessing, and that's why no good point from those targets. All the marked targets went really nice. So I can shoot, but the calculating the distances sucks. Back to to the drawing board and lots of practicing of measuring the distances. Weather was better that saturday. The sun was shining, but it was like +2. Score 323, first half 153, but the second half was good, 170. And I was happy to end the round to perfect 18 points :).

First day 5 Nations

322, with the 6s.. so not so good, I waited a little more, but unmarked targets were the troublemakers. There was couple over 40m unmarked, where I shot only 7 and 9. And the 40/60cm were also tuff, under 10 that also.. Shooting over 15 was very tuff today, maybe there was 2 or 3 times, that I got more than 15. It was raining first half of the course and after that the wind started. Then the second half was cuite cold, wet and windy. I'm waiting to shoot more points tomorrow.... Lets see, what happends...

Picture taken, after I shooted the arrows from 50m. I was very happy to that group, it was best today. Otherwise also, I was very happy how I shooted today. I Shooted all distances and to all targets. Lets see how I can carry those hits to the weekend competition.

30.3 Rumst

Went today to shoot Rumst. It was raining a little all the way there. But when I got there, the rain stopped, lucky me :). I was also prepared to shoot in rain also, but did not have to. I started from 50m. Every 7 arrow, I changed my string distance. I changed two rounds down. And the group went smaller first trhee times, then it went worse. After that I noticed, that the grouping was little right, so I tuned the plunger bolt so, that the group went back to center of the yellow. Now the bow is tuned, I hope :). Just waiting the next weekend competition. The 5 Nations is starting....

Shooting in Virrat

On thursday 27th I visited the Virtain Jousiampujat hall. There was also Aulis Humalajoki, who was 8th in the European indoor championships. He was tuning his bow there, like the compound shooters usually do :). They were shooting 18m. I put my field target there also. First shot and the arrow went through the target and to the medal pole, so that was 25€ shot ;(, the point went in the shaft...shit... Just shooted about 50 arrows, cause most of the arrows were on the yellow :). Rest of the time, just talked with others...

No practising

I have been in vacation in finland. It was easter, so the shooting hall in Virrat was closed. And that's why no shooting in 4 days or so. It has been outside -10, so not able shoot outside also :(. But we have practising other winter activities, like sliding down the hill... Today is practicing day, the hall is open :).

Competiion in Ossendrecht on sunday

I didn't have a sure place in competition, so I had to wait and see too the last minute, if there is room for me. And yes, I could shoot. It was raining a little during the day, but it did not effect the feeling or the shooting. First half I shooted 144 points, with two times 7 points and two times 11 points. We weren't counting X=6. The first 7 point came from the 60cm/40m target. My marks was not waterproof (not sure), so in the first arrow I tooked too much mark, and it went up 2. The second arrow the high was good, but then left 2. And third somewhere in 3.. Some targets later I noticed that I had to change my arrowrest. So I changed it and two next targets were good, but the next one was 15m bunny... Because of the new arrowrest the first arrow went up, and I missed the first target. After that I was not sure about my marks so I shot 3 and 4... 7 points to that. Also the next target went bad, cause I was wondering my marks.. 11 points. But after that was 5m bunny. I shooted there all 15 points. It gave me back the right feeling and the second half I shooted 160 points. So I ended to 304 points. That was enough to won the competition.
I'm happy to the points, cause I used the Sirius riser first time in the competition. Also had some problems with the arrowrest and marks were little bit off.

Better weather 13.3.2008

It was so much calm wind today, so I went outside to shoot. My goal was to get marks to all targets. And i think that I did good job. But we will see it in the next competition :). Have to really consentrate to te shooting... if the release is not good the arrows goes to the left, and if the left hand does something, that it should not do, the arrows goes to the right... But need some real field experiments, that I could say for real, where the arrows goes ;).

It was so windy, that I went inside to shoot. Just shooted 75 arrows. Gedding my marks, between 5-15m, and some measuring from 10 to 25m.

Sunday 9.3.2008

So, I filed the handel, and the Sirius riser was much better to shoot. No more so many shot to the right or the left. The field season is itching... I'm so much better sitsuation, that my friends in Finland. Regards to Riku and Tomi ;). They have only two competitions to shoot the limits to the Wales WC. I have unlimited competitions to shoot :), lucky me. And thanks to my wife, that she got the job from the Europen Union :))). But, now its much easier to start the field season, when you know that yours bow works fine, if get in the Ossendrecht competition. It was full starting first of january... Next year i know when to sign in...

Field practice

Today I was practicing in real field targets. There was some old targets, that was srinked alittle, so the measuring was not so accuraty. I measured the 80cm target and it was about 6cm smaller. That is few meters. So after I measured the distance I added couple meters to that, depending on the distance. But looks like that I need to concentrate to the shooting 100%, othervise usually the arrow was somewhere down right. Also the Sirius riser is so light, that it moves very easily, if the release is not good. I think that first thing that I try, is to shape the handel, so the bow would not be so sensitive.

5.3.2008 Shooting

203 arrows.. It was a cold morning here. The temperature was under 0, and I had to clean the car windows from the ice. It was also little bit cold when I got to the outfield in Rumst. The fingers was getting cold, but they was just that warm that I could shoot whit them, without hurting. When the sun was shining it was very warm, but when it was claudy, it was cold. But the shooting was okey. I did not really got good grouping, cause the aiming was not good today. Mostly the arrows usually goes where I'm aiming, and I wasn't aiming to the yellow today... But I shooted different distancies and now I know better my new distance marks in my tab :).

Sig day

I have been sig now for two days. Can't go shooting for a two reason.. First, I'm having flu, with no feaver, and second Emil (my son) have a hig feavor, and he is staying home, from the day care. Lets see is on wednesday, if we both feeling better, and can continue the normal routines..

Practicing last day of february

The place where I go to practice is in Rumst. So if someone have the Google Earth, you can actually see the target in there. The cordinates are 51° 5'0.00"N and 4°25'53.00"E. It has been okey weather this week, so I have been shooting there three times this week. Today I notised that my motivation was not the best, arrows went all over the targets... Also I noticed that my marks were different than before. It was because I turned a little bit more power to the limbs. Now I can shoot about 55 meters under the knock. Still all the distances stayed in yellow, and arrows worked fine. My feathers are so twisted, that some of them should be changed... But still the K-Wines works fine, but maybe some of them should be changed. Lets see, if during the weekend I have motivation to change them ;).

Shooting outside with Sirius 25.02.2008

It was beautiful weather today, so I went outside to test the Sirius riser. I shooted the distances between 5m - 70m, and the bow worked so nice :). I was shooting the field targets, cause the field season is not so far away. All the field distances worked fine, meaning that most of the arrows were usually in yellow. So, no need to adjust the bow, just shoot more all the distancies, and take up all the marks. Best group was in 60m/122cm target.. All nine arrows inside the yellow, and four tens :).

Couple shooting in Netherland 24.2.2008

This kind of shootings should be in Finland too :). First you have four groups, where in every group is five teams. You shoot against every team in your grop. Two roud three arrows. Winner takes 2 point and loser 0. If tied, then both 1 point. Then you count your points after 3 games and one "dummy" game. Then the groups winner compete against other groups winners and the second competes against others two's, etc.. That was fun competitions, even we did not were very good in the first group. But we had to compete against 3 compound groups, so it was expexted, that we lose those.. But we had a good time ;)

Green Horn / Sirius

I got the new Sirius riser from Green Horn. I have shot this week with it, with my limbs (Winact). The balance of te riser is better than in Nexus. No need to add so much weight front of it, like in my Naxus (800g). I think that it would be enough, if I add like 200-300g to it. I have the same draw weitgh in it like in Nexus, so I can use the same arrows in it. Not nessessery to buy new arrows right now. But in some point I think, that I would like to shoot with Nano Xr....

Well my goal was 540, but I just couldn't make it. 532 was the result. First I was a little bit nervious, cause I haven't compete inside soooo lont time, it was just something new. So I lost too many points in the beginning.. After 3-4 four round it was good to shoot. The shooting was not good, but it was not bad. I made one time maximum 30points in one round, others was round 26-28, more 26-27 than more... I think there was also one time three eights, not good, for me. The results was also part of the barebow indoor world championhip, that score was enough for second place, at this point. www.barebow.com

Green Horn / Sirius

Next wednesday I get my new sponsored bow from Green Horn. Lets see do I have to change my arrows also. New limbs are 2# bigger, but now my bow is tuned up, all bounds that I can get from Nexus. So it could be same 40#, that I get from Sirius too. Lets see what happends. I hope that it would be allready wednesday ;)), like waiting for christmas..

Practicing january-february

I have started to visit the gym two times a week. Have to lose some weight and get some strenght to the muscles, not too much. Also ones a week I go playing floorball for two hours. I have been shooting two times a week. Thanks to www.kjss.be that they took me in their club. They have outside field (open all year) and inside "hall" /club. If I'm alone, I can shoot up to 25m. If it's good weather, then I go outside to shoot up to 90m. I don't shoot 90m, cause I don't have any aiming point to that lenght. I have noticed, that 60m and 70m (they are in finnish Barebow FITA) are very good practicing lenghts.

Second day in Oedenrode

Sunday.. The warming up shooting were inside the club, like in saturday. I forgot my arrow vine in my car, when I changed the car in Dirks place. But fortunately some shooter had a spare vine, didn't had to go to the field arrows in hand. I added one shirt more, under the jacket, so it was much warmer to shoot. Both days were quite windy, witch made the aiming difficult. On sunday the longer distancies were better than saturday, but the bunnies were worse. I was happy to the score. 349, without X=6, that would be 328. So two days 341 + 349 = 690 (647 old style). Very good start to the field season !!!

First Field Competiton

The Field season started early this year, 12th and 13th of january in Oedenrode, Netherland. Place was about 150km from Brussels. The saturday morning was little bit rainy, but the rain stopped after we got to the field. Weather was about +4, so it was very good idea to take with me thick gloves. Without those, the first days score (341) would not be possible. This competition was the first where the inner X was counted as 6. Whithout the X=6, the score would had been 319.
My marks, bow and arrows have not been changed from the last year, so it was quite easy to go to the competition. First two target was a little bit difficult, cause I haven't have shot field since september in Lier, Belgium Open. But after I got some bunnies shooted, it feld much easier. I got some difficulties to "measure" some distancies, so those targets were about 12-13 point only. Now it's easy say "only", cause the maximum score is 18point. 6points from maximum is quite alot. I shot two times 18 point to the cooking plates (40cm) ;).

Starting new season

The season started 6.1.2008 in Jyväskylä, Finland. There was 25m competition inside. The result was quite good, considering how I was practising before that. Ones, twices a week, not much..
Score was 541 (268 + 272). :)
